The drive screw in the engaged position. The bottom of the drive screw has a hole in the end with a slot cut across to fit over a small roll pin on the end of the motor shaft. It is extremely important that the motor shaft and the thrust bearings supporting the drive screw be coaxial to avoid periodic error.
